An Early Years Journey...
I’m a mum to two daughters- aged 3 and 5. For 12 years, before becoming a mum I was a primary school teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator working with 7-11 year olds. I had never spent much time with nursery age children. Since becoming a mum, I have become excited by the power of play and its impact on children’s learning. Children can learn everything through play and children are wired to learn from birth. I have seen right from the start that for little ones it is about process not product, the simple act of pouring glue on a piece of paper and spreading it around is the best thing on earth for my girls, who cares that we haven’t actually stuck anything on it! I have learnt a lot and I am still learning- that’s what I love about teaching- you are always developing your practice. I’m starting out on a new journey as an Early Years Teacher (Nursery Class) after spending 3 years at home successfully running my own Home Based Childcare business, immersing myself in early Years pedagogy, where I gained a grade of 'Outstanding' in every area from Ofsted.

ReplyDeleteHello! Just popping over from Adventures at Home. I came across your lovely blog and think it's fab. Wanted to comment on your sharing cake post but couldn't see how to... Anyway, it reminded me of receiving a friendship cake when I was around 12 yrs old - I was so excited that it had to be nurtured and some of it passed on etc. I will follow your blog - pop over to mine and say hi if you get a sec! x

Hi
ReplyDeleteI wonder if you would be interested in hearing about a forthcoming report on a literacy crisis from a national charity as they are looking for bloggers to help them spread awareness.
If this is of interest, please email Kateonthinice@gmail.coma and I can let you know more.
Thanks
